With shy pride , a girl wears a traditional skirt and a lot of different beads around her waist. Her adolescent body indicates she has reached puberty, an age associated with fertility. Among the Shai and Krobo tribes of Ghana, the dipo initiation ceremony is a series of traditional rites performed when a youth attains maturity.
Working with ink on a piece of cardboard, I created this modern composition, which features intricate designs and numbers that evoke technical blueprints.
